Patron Membership
Patron Members are a select group of organizations that exhibit a longstanding dedication to environmental and biodiversity conservation matters, showcasing exceptional performance in either their core business areas or their corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategies.
These members actively support and guide BSL’s endeavours by identifying crucial focal points and issues that warrant attention. Patron Members hold prominent representation, with two rotational positions on BSL’s Board of Directors.
Membership as a Patron is extended through invitation, and in return, Patron Members are expected to make a single contribution in the form of a grant, totaling LKR 150,000/-. This grant exempts them from the obligation of paying membership subscription fees for a period of one year.
Furthermore, Patron Members are also anticipated to sign and stand by the ‘Leadership Declaration for Responsible Biodiversity Conservation in Business,’ details of which will be provided during the invitation process.
Upon acceptance, Patron Members receive an exclusive logo that they are authorized to utilize in all their public communications and awareness initiatives associated with their involvement in conserving Sri Lanka’s invaluable biodiversity heritage.
Starting in the second year of membership, Patron Members are obligated to provide an annual subscription fee of LKR 80,000 as their financial commitment
General Membership
BSL offers General Membership to all corporate entities based in Sri Lanka that are considering a transition towards sustainable business development through a firm commitment to environmental and biodiversity conservation.
Companies that are already actively involved in such endeavours and wish to enhance their biodiversity conservation profile are also encouraged to seek General Membership with BSL.
Upon joining, General Members receive an exclusive logo that can be utilized in all their public communications and awareness initiatives related to their contributions to the preservation of Sri Lanka’s precious biodiversity heritage.
Similar to Patron Members, General Members are also granted representation at the highest echelon, with two rotating seats on BSL’s Board of Directors.
In terms of financial engagement, General Members are required to commit to an annual subscription fee of LKR 50,000/-, beginning from the first year of their membership.
Associate Membership
Associate Membership is a status conferred upon a technical body/organization which is able to collaborate with BSL on an ongoing basis to provide technical know-how and expertise on the various subject matters, which BSL deals with.
In exchange, BSL also works to fulfil the objectives of its Associate Members through the provision of a platform that encourages collaborative work and collective action toward the achievement of nationally important biodiversity conservation targets.
SME Membership
Acknowledging that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) constitute a substantial portion of Sri Lanka’s business landscape, it’s evident that, as a collective, this sector leaves the most significant environmental footprint compared to other business types.
As a result, BSL actively promotes and welcomes the involvement of SMEs in the pursuit of its fundamental objectives.
BSL extends SME Membership to all small and medium corporate enterprises based in Sri Lanka. This encompasses enterprises that have either demonstrated successful accomplishments of noteworthy biodiversity conservation targets on a national scale or those that are making significant strides, are in the initial stages, or have yet to commence their journey towards adopting practises conducive to biodiversity and environmental preservation within their respective domains of operation.
The introduction of SME Membership represents the newest category within BSL Membership.
SMEs are now invited to initiate their application process for membership with BSL.
